Tewatia heroics gives Rajasthan their second win
Rajasthan Royals defeated Kings XI Punjab by 4 wickets in an exciting match on Sunday to clinch their second consecutive victory in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Rajasthan chased down the biggest victory target in IPL history. After Mayank Agrawal scored his first century in the IPL, Punjab added 223 runs for the loss of two wickets. Captain Steve Smith, Sanju Samson and Rahul Tewatia scored half-centuries as Rajasthan crossed the target with 3 balls remaining.
Tewatia, who managed just nine runs off the first 19 balls, then added 44 runs off 12 balls, including seven sixes. He hit five sixes off Seldon Cottrell in the 18th over to get Rajasthan back in the game. In the next over, Joffra Archer hit two sixes in a row off Mohammad Sami's ball and Tewatia hit one six. Tewatia scored 53 off 31 balls and Archer scored an unbeaten 13 off 3 balls.
Earlier, Jose Butler was out for 4 runs but Smith scored 50 and Samson scored 85 to keep Rajasthan's hopes alive. Smith hit seven fours and two sixes off 27 balls while Samson hit four fours and seven sixes in his 42-ball innings while scoring half-centuries.
Punjab's Mayank added 183 runs for the first wicket with skipper KL Rahul in 17 overs. Mayank hit 10 fours and 7 sixes in 50 balls. Rahul hit 7 fours and 1 six off 54 balls while scoring 69 runs. Glenn Maxwell made 13 runs off 9 balls while Nicholas Puran remained unbeaten on 25 runs off 8 balls which included one four and 3 sixes.
