Stoinis, Rabada guide Delhi to a win over Bangalore
Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a comprehensive victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday. RCB were restricted to 137/9 in 20 overs chasing a target of 197 runs to win eventually handing a 59 run victory to Delhi.
Bangalore won the toss and elected to bowl first at Dubai. Openers Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan added 68 runs for the opening stand before Prithvi Shaw was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj for a 23 ball 42. Dhawan made 32 runs off 28 balls. Skipper Shreyas Iyer contributed 11 runs while wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant played well for his 25 ball 37 which included 3 fours and 2 sixes.
Australian allrounder Marcus Stoinis provided the finishing touch to Delhi's innings as he remained unbeaten on 53 runs from just 26 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes. Siraj was the pick of the bowlers for Bangalore as he finished with the figures of 2-34 while Moeen Ali and Isuru Udana shared a wicket each.
Bangalore in reply, never really looked like being in the chase. Openers Devdutt Padikkal (4) and Aaron Finch (13) both couldn't gave a solid start for the team. Skipper Virat Kohli with his 39 ball 43 tried his best before Rabada dismissed him. No significant contribution from other batsmen meant that RCB fell short of the target by a margin of 59 runs.
Kagiso Rabada was once again brilliant as he picked up 4 wickets conceeding 24 runs from his quota of 4 overs. Axar Patel and Anrich Nortje shared 2 wickets each while Ravichandran Ashwin chipped in with a wicket.
