Shubman Gill guides KKR to win over SRH
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) registered their first win of the season defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets on Saturday. This is Hyderabad's second consecutive loss from their two matches.
Chasing a target of 143 runs to win, Kolkata lost Sunil Narine for a duck. Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana added 37 runs for the second wicket before Rana was caught by Saha off Natarajan. Skipper Dinesh Karthiktoo was dismissed for a duck as KKR were at 53/3 from 6.2 overs.
Gill along with Eoin Morgan then added an unbeaten 92 run partnership off 72 balls to take their team to victory. Gill smashed 70 runs from 62 balls which included 2 sixes and 5 fours. Morgan hit 2 sixes and 3 fours in his 29 ball 42 as KKR chased down the target without further hiccups with 2 overs and 7 wickets in hand.
Earlier, David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. SRH lost Jonny Bairstow early as Warner and Pandey consolidated the innings. Warner was caught and bowled by Varun Chakravarthy for 36 runs while Manish Pandey completed his half century before getting dismissed by Andre Russell. Manish scored 3 fours and 2 sixes in his 38 ball 51. Wicketkeeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha contributed 30 runs.
