Second win for Punjab, defeat RCB by 8 wickets
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 8 wickets in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday to register their second win of the season.
After KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 61 and Gayle scored 53, Punjab completed the target of 172 runs in the last ball. Punjab needed 2 runs in the last over to win. Gayle, who could not score any runs in the first two balls, scored one run in the third ball. Rahul, who was on strike, was run out in the fifth ball. Nicholas Pooran ensured Punjab's victory by hitting six off the last ball. This is Gayle's first game in the IPL this season. Mayank Agrawal returned to the pavilion with 45 off 25 balls with four fours and three sixes.
Bangalore batted first after captain Virat Kohli decided to bat at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, lost 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and scored 171 runs. For Bangalore, captain Kohli top-scored with 48, Chris Morris with 25 and Shivam Dubey with 23. Murugan Ashwin and Mohammad Shami took 2 wickets each for Punjab.
