Second win for Delhi, defeat Chennai by 44 runs
Prithvi Shaw stars with his half century in Delhi's 44 run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday. This is Delhi Capital's second consecutive win while Chennai's second loss in the tournament.
Chennai won the toss and elected to field first. Delhi got off to a great start with the openers adding 94 runs for the first wicket in 10.4 overs before Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed by Piyush Chawala. Dhawan made 35 runs off 27 balls which included 3 fours and a six. The real starfor Delhi was Prithvi Shaw who smashed 64 runs from 43 balls including 9 fours and a six.
Rishabh Pant was promoted at number 3 and remained unbeaten on 25 ball 37 with 5 fours. Skipper Shreyas Iyer contributed 26 runs. Piyush Chawala was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai as he finished with the figures of 2-33 from his quota of 4 overs. Sam Curran bagged one wicket.
Chennai in reply struggled with their batting as they did in their previous encounter against Rajasthan. Once again Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for them with 43 runs. Kedar Jadhav made 26 runs while skipper MS Dhoni was dismissed for 15 runs. The failure in batting department is now a headache for Chennai in two consecutive games. Murali Vijay (10), Shane Watson (14), Ruturaj Gaikwad (5) none of the batsmen had significant contribution for Chennai.
Kagiso Rabada continuted his good outing as he bagged 3 wickets conceeding 26 runs. Anrich Nortje picked up 2 wickets while Axar Patel chipped in with a wicket.
