Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) continued their poor form this season as they lost to Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS)by 61 runs in the 34th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). RCB once again disappointed in batting department with no batsmen getting to double digit score apart from the skipper Virat Kohli.

RCB won the toss at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune and invited RPS to bat first. Pune lost Rahane early but Rahul Tripathi played well for 37 runs off 28 balls. Tripathi along with the skipper Steve Smith put on a good partnership before Manoj Tiwary provided some sort of finishing touch with his 44 runs with 4 fours and 1 six. Steve Smith was the top scorer for Pune with 45 runs off 32 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. MS Dhoni was unbeaten on 21 runs with a four and a six as Pune finished at 157/3 from their 20 overs. Samuel Badree, Pawan Negi and Stuart Binny shared a wicket each for RCB.

Bangalore in reply, never looked in control. They kept losing wickets regularly while skipper Virat Kohli was struggling out from one end. Virat(55) was out in the 18th over when RCB still required 74 runs to win. No other batsmen could get to double digit score. Imran Tahir picked up 3 wickets while Lockie Ferguson chipped in with 2 wickets. Lockie Ferguson bowled 18 dot balls in his 4 overs as he finished with the figures of 2-7 and was awarded Man of the Match.
