Nepal loses the final against UAE despite Paras Khadka’s unbeaten century

Nepal loses the final match against UAE by 7 runs despite skipper’s unbeaten century. UAE batting first set the target of 278 runs with Asfaq Ahmed’s maiden century. The openers had 109 runs stand till Rohan Mustafa (51 runs off 74 balls) was caught byKaran KC in Basanta Regmi’s ball. Asfaq Ahmed who scored 114 runs (including 10*4s and 3*6s) was caught by Karan KC in young-leggieSandeep Lamichhane's ball. Shaiman Anwar (c RK Paudel b Sompal Kami) scored 40 runs off 24 balls while Ramiz Shahjad scored not out 41 runs off 41 balls with a four and a six. Sompal, Basanta and Sandeep took 1 wickets each.

Chasing the target, openers had 38 runs partnership before Dilip nath (13 runs off 29 balls) was bowled by Rohan Mustafa at 9th over. Gyanendra Malla scored 24 runs off 25 balls while Dipendra Singh Airee and Sharad Veshawar scored 35 runs and 30 runs respectively. It was skipper Paras Khadka who stayed at the crease till last over scoring 112* which included 3*4s and 8*6s. Nepal needed 28 runs off final over with 2 wickets in hand; Basanta Regmi at the other end of the crease. Nepal lost the match by 7 runs despite 3 sixes and two singles off the final over. Amir Hayat took 4 wickets to restrict Nepal to 270/8 at 50.0 overs. Despite the loss Nepal has already qualified for theICC World Cup Qualifiersin Zimbabwe.
