Nepal loses against mighty Zimbabwe by 116 runs

Nepal has lost it’s first game of ICC World Cup Qualifier against Zimbabwe by 116 runs. Zimbabwe won the toss and batting first set a mammoth total of 380 runs losing 6 wickets at 50 overs. Sikandar Raza (123) and Brendan Taylor (100) scored their centuries with a 173 runs stand for 5th wicket. Previously, openers Zhuwao and Mire gave a rocket start to Zimbabwe to start the inning scoring 77 runs at 7 overs before losing first wicket as Zhuwao.

Nepal chasing the target lost it’s first wicket as Dilip nath at 9 runs. Nepal only managed to score 34 runs in it's powerplay losing it’s first wicket. Sharad Veshawkar was the top scorer for Nepal though most of the batsmen contributed their individual runs against Zimbabwe. He scored 52 runs off 48 balls while Aarif scored 50 runs off 59 balls. Two half centuries were hit against Zimbabwe while captain Paras was short of 10 runs for his half century. Rohit Paudel scored 30 runs of 32 while Dipendra Singh Thakuri scored 23 runs of 32 balls. The 5th wicket partnership of 73 runs, was the highest partnership for Nepal. Aarif Sheikh and Sharad Veshawkar.had a 73 runs stand for 5th wicket while the 59 runs stand between Aarif and Rohit Kumar Paudel for 6th wicket was second highest partnership for Nepal. Gyanendra and Paras had 54 runs stand for 2nd wicket while Gyanendra and Dipendra Singh Airee had 35 runs stand for 3rd wicket.

Nepal managed to score 264 runs on the board with 8 wickets down at 50 overs to lose Zimbabwe by 116 runs.Full Scorecard
