Australia completely dominated the first day of second test at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru as the home team could manage just 189 in the first innings. Nathan Lyon was the star for Australia as he picked up 8 wickets.

Having won the toss and decided to bat first, India started off cautiously despite losing Mukund early. Pujara got our just before lunch to Lyon as India were 2 down at lunch. KL Rahul occupied the crease at one end but no other could give him support from the other end as wickets fell regularly. Rahul got out for 90 while the second top scorer was Karun Nair (26). Lyon finished with figures of 50/8 in the first innings which is the best figures by a visiting bowler in India. One wicket each shared by O'Keefe and Starc.

Australia in reply are 40/0 from 16 overs and in the driver's seat as they trail by just 149 runs with 10 wickets remaining.
