Kolkata beat Chennai by 10 runs
Kolkata Knight Riders defeated Chennai Super Kings by 10 runs in an exciting match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday. Kolkata, who lost by 49 runs to Mumbai Indians in their last match,is now upto the third position with this victory.
Kolkatahas won three out of their five matches. Chennai, captained by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, has not been able to maintain a good rhythm this time. Chennai is in the fifth position after losing 4 out of 6 games. The top four teams out of eight have a provision to reach the playoffs.
After winning the toss at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Kolkata were all out for 167 runs in 20 overs. Chennai lost 5 wickets and managed to score only 157 runs. Rabindra Jadeja scored an unbeaten 21 off 8 balls but could not win Chennai. He hit two fours and one six in the last three balls of the game. But his unbeaten pair of Kedar Jadhav managed to score only 7 runs off 12 balls.
Opener Shane Watson scored 50 off 40 balls. He smashedsix fours and one six in his second consecutive half-century. Faf du Plessis scored 17 and Ambati Rayudu scored 30 off 27 balls. Dhoni scored 11 off 12 balls and was bowled byVarun Chakraborty. Earlier, opener Rahul Tripathi had scored 81 runs from Kolkata. Playing 51 balls, he struck eight fours and three sixesand was named Player of the Match.
