IPL postponed until April 15 following Corona Threat
The upcoming edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) which was originally scheduled to begin from 29th March has now been postponed until 15th April following the global concern over the COVID-19 outbreak.
Previously, the tournament opener was set to be played between two of the most successful teams Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede Mumbai.
A number of international sports event are being halted due to the corona virus threat. IPL along with Premier League, UEFA Champions League, the NBA and the ATP Tour are also being effected by the corona virus.
The decision was made was by the BCCI top brass lead by its president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah and top management of the IPL in accordance to the advice from the government.
The BCCI is set to meet the IPL team owners on Saturday before the start of the IPL Governing Council meeting and the way forward will be discussed then.
