ICC WT20 : Australia beat Pakistan to enter finals

Australia defeated Pakistan by 5 wickets in the second semi final of the ongoing ICC Mens T20 World Cup at Dubai on Thursday. Australia will face New Zealand in the finals on Sunday.

Chasing a target of 177 runs to win, Australia lost skipper Aaron Finch for a duck in the very first over of the chase. David Warner (49) along with Mitchell Marsh (28) added 51 runs for the second wicket before Marsh was caught by Asif Ali off Shadab Khan for 28 runs. Warner scored 49 runs from 30 balls which included 3 fours and 3 sixes. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 40 runs off 31 balls including 2 fours and 2 sixes. The finishing shots came from the bat of wicketkeeper batsman Mathew Wade as he blasted 41 unbeaten runs fron just 17 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes.  Wade hit 3 consecutive sixes off Shaheen Afridi to win the match for Australia. Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan as he finished with the figures of 4-26 from his quota of 4 overs.

Earlier, Australia won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. Pakistan finished on 176/4 from 20 overs. Opener Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for them with 67 runs at the top of the order. Fakhar Zaman played well for his unbeaten 55 runs off 32 balls. Skipper Babar Azam scored 39 runs for his team. Mitchell Starc picked up 2 wickets while Adam Zampa and Pat Cummins shared a wicket each for Australia.
