Delhi beat Rajasthan to climb top in points table

Delhi Capitals have climbed to the top of the points table in the ongoing 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) after defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 13 runs on Wednesday.

After two defeats and five wins in the previous seven games, Delhi have accumulated 12 points from eight games with this victory.

After winning the toss and choosing to bat at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Delhi lost 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs to post a total of 161 runs.

Delhi opener Prithvi Shah was dismissed for a golden duck while another opener Shikhar Dhawan smashed 57 off 33 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.

Ajinkya Rahane returned to the pavilion adding 2 runs to his name, captain Shreyas Iyer was dismissed for 53 off 43 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes.

For Rajasthan, Joffra Archer took 3 wickets and Jaydev Unadkat took 2 wickets.

Chasing a target of 162 runs to win, Rajasthan lost 8 wickets in the allotted 20 overs and managed to score only 148 runs.

For Rajasthan, opener Ben Stokes contributed 41 runs and Jos Buttler 22 runs. Apart from Robin Uthappa (32) and Sanju Samson (25), other batsmen didn't had any significant contribution.

Anrich Nortje and Tushar Deshpande took 2/2 wickets for Delhi.
