Chakravarthy, Russell shine as KKR beat RCB by 9 wickets
Kolkata Knight Riders started the 2nd phase of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 with a dominating win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). KKR chased down a target of 93 runs comfortably with 10 overs and 9 wickets in hand.

Bangalore capatin Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to bat first. Virat himself was the first one to be dismissed for his personal score of 5 runs. Devdutt Padikkal and Srikar Bharat added 31 runs for second wicket before Padikkal was caught by Dinesh Karthik off Lockie Ferguson. Padikkal made 22 while Bharat made 16 runs. Big names AB de Villiers (0) and Glenn Maxwell (10) couldn't trouble the scorers much as Bangalore finally were bowled out for mere 92 runs.
Varun Chakravarthy was the star for Kolkata with the ball as he picked up 3 wickets giving away just 13 runs from his quota of 4 overs. Andre Russell too picked up 3 wickets from 3 overs conceeding 9 runs.
Kolkata in reply chased down the target very comfortably. Opener Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer added 81 runs for the first wicket. Gill was dismissed for 48 runs. Venkatesh Iyer remained unbeaten on 41 runs.
