Jos Buttler’s unbeaten innings of 83 guides England to an eight-wicket win in the third T20I and a 2-1 seires lead, on Tuesday, 16 March.

Chasing a target of 157 runs to win, England chased the target in 18.2 overs with 8 wickets and 10 balls remaining. Opening batsman Jos Buttler was brilliant at the top of the order with unbeaten 83 runs off 52 balls which included 5 fours and 4 sixes. Jonny Bairstow remained unbeaten on 28 ball 40 with 5 fours.

Earlier India finished on 156/6 after they were invited to bat first. India were once struggling at 24/3 with Rohit Sharma (15), KL Rahul (0) and Ishan Kishan (4) already back to pavilion. Skipper Virat Kohli then added 40 runs for 4th wicket with wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant. Pant scored 25 runs from 20 balls. Kohli went on to complete his half century and eventually was notout on 77 runs off just 46 balls with 8 fours and 4 sixes.

Mark Wood was the pick of the bowlers for England as he finished with the figures of 3/31 from his quota of 4 overs. Chris Jordan chipped in with 2 wickets.

England now lead the 5 match series 2-1. England had won the first T20 while India came back to level the series in the 2nd match.
