Bangladesh into the semis, Australia out of the tournament
Australia are knocked out of the Champions Trophy as England beat Australia in the last match of their group stage by 40 runs (DLS Method). With this result, Bangladesh have secured a place in the semifinals along with England from Group A.
England collapsed to 35 for three chasing 278 for victory before left-handers Morgan and Stokes changed the course of the game with a fourth-wicket partnership of 159.World Cup champions Australia had to win this match to join already-qualified England in the semi-finals of a tournament featuring the worlds leading eight ODI teams after no result washouts in their previous two Group A fixtures. Australia's defeat made sure that Bangladesh go onto the semi finals.
Earlier the day, Australia batted first after England put them in and soon found themselves in trouble as Warner got out early. A small partnership between Smith and Finch and a brilliant innings by Travis Head took Australia to 277/9. Travis Head scored 71 runs while Aaron Finch scored 68 runs. Skipper Steve Smith contributed 56 runs in Australia's total of 277.
