Australia and New Zealand shared a point each after the match was washed out due to rain. Australia was struggling at 53-3 after nine overs when the players went off the field for a third rain delay of the match.

Earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat first. On the back of a brilliant century of Kane Williamson, New Zealand managed 291 from 45 overs. Williamson scored 100 runs off 97 balls with 8 fours and 3 sixes. Luke Ronchi batted well for his 65 run while Ross Taylor assisted Williamson with his 46 runs. Josh Hazlewood was the pick of the bowlers for Australia as he finished with the figures of 52-6 from 9 overs.

Australia had lost the wicket of David Warner(18), Aaron Finch(8) and Moises Henriques(18) when rain stopped the match.
