Kolkata vs Mumbai : Match Prediction, Head to Head and Probable XI

The 5th match of the ongoing 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) will have Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Mumbai Indians (MI) competiting against each other. Mumbai are coming back after a loss to Chennai in their first match while Kolkata are playing their first match of the season.

Both teams look good in paper. Always known as shaky starters, Mumbai lost their first match this season too. However, they can come back hard against Kolkata. Kolkata are a strong T20 side with the presence of T20 specialists in their squad. Overall, a tough contest is expected when these two sides take the field on Wednesday.

Head to Head Stats

Total Matches Played : 25

Team Won Lost N/R

Match Prediction

It's not easy to predict the outcome of this match as both teams look evenly balanced. Since, Mumbai have already played game and might have accessed the playing conditions and compositions more better, I am giving slight advantage to Mumbai in this game. Having said that, no team can take KKR lightly. I feel a cracker of a contest on its way.

Kolkata Knight Riders have two of the best T20 allrounders in the names of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Narine has become a more than handy batsman ever since he started opening the innings for the franchise. Along with some brisk cameos at the top of the order, Narine is equally destructive with his bowling too.

Another important man in the lineup is big hard hitting West Indian Russell. Russell ended with 222 runs from 9 matches in the recent Carribean Premier League (CPL) representing Jamaica Tallawahs. He wasn't equally successful in bowling department with mere 3 wickets throughout the tournament. Russell was the top scorer for Kolkata in the 2019 edition of IPL with 510 runs at a blistering strike rate of over 200.

Kuldeep Yadav didn't have a good outing in the previous season with only 4 wickets from 9 matches. He will definitely be looking to get back to wickets column and improve his stats.

Mumbai probably will take the field with same playing eleven from their previous match against Chennai. MI didn't look good in their first match against Chennai specially in bowling and fielding. They had moments while batting but lost wickets in crucial stages. One among their top 3 Rohit, de Kocka and Suryakumar needs to bat long. Their middle order and lower order looks solid with Pandya brothers and Pollard. Its just a matter of time that this team starts getting into momentum and it won't be easy for any opposition to overcome Mumbai's challenge.
