Chitwan Rhinos Team Analysis: Strengths, Weaknesses & Prediction

Chitwan Rhinos Team Analysis: Strengths, Weaknesses & Prediction

It's that time of the year yet again when the whole nation will get a taste of the glorious blend of Cricket & Nature. Oh Yes! It's time for Pokhara Premier League Season 2.
With the tournament fast-approaching, we at LetzCricket will be previewing all the participant teams this season & we'll start off with the runners-up of previous season, Chitwan Rhinos.

Team: Chitwan Rhinos
Captain: Paras Khadka
Coach: Manoj Katwal

Foreign Players:
Rohan Mustafa (UAE)
Babar Hayat (Hong Kong)
Sunny Patel (India)

Rest Of The Roster:
Bhuban Karki, Anil Kumar Sah(wk), Bikram Bhusal, Bikram Sob, Hari Shankar Sah, Karan KC, Md Aarif Sheikh, Ramaresh Giri, Sonu Tamang, Sumit Maharjan, Paras Khadka, Ramnaresh Giri, Aakash Thapa(wk)

1) Dominant Batting Lineup
The team will highly rely on their hard-hitting & devastating batting lineup which includes the likes of former Nepal captain Paras Khadka, Karan KC, Sonu Tamang & their three foreign recruits. Meanwhile, the presence of young Nepalese batsmen like Anil Kumar Sah, Aarif Sheikh & Sumit Maharjan will be given the roles of anchoring the innings. Clearly, CR has the best batting line-up in paper which is it's biggest strength. It won't be surprise if they notch up huge scores and out-play the opposition with just their batting as the tournament progresses.

2) Experienced Foreign Players
All 3 foreign players have already had experiences of franchise cricket in Nepal & all of them have been quite successful.
In fact, Sunny Patel was the Player of The Tournament in last edition of the tournament. Rohan Mustafa & Babar Hayat, both ex-captains of their respective nations, have also had great results whenever they've walked into a franchise league in Nepal.

3) World-Class Allrounders
What makes a T20 team great? Obviously, the presence of capable allround players & CR is blessed to have about 4/5 quality allrounders in their ranks. Paras Khadka, Sunny Patel, Karan KC & Rohan Mustafa; all of them are capable of turning the game on its head with both bat and ball.

1) Proper Wicketkeeper Batsman
Although Anil Kumar Sah & Aakash Thapa are listed as wicketkeepers in the squad, they aren't genuinely that reliable behind the stumps. Anil has often been found clumsy behind the wickets resulting in great impact in the opposition total. While Aakash is a safer option as a WK, he hasn't had any batting performance worth mentioning in the domestic matches since quite some time. So, lack of a proper WKB will probably be a headache for the CR think tank.

2) Fragile Bowling Line-up
While Karan KC & Bikram Sob are certain to feature throughout the tournament for them, lack of a dependable third seamer might hurt the Tigers in the tournament. Ramnaresh Giri hasn't had any worth-mentioning performances & captain Khadka has been only bowling spin after he came back from injury. Chitwan would have also wished to have a consistent local spin bowler in their side but Bikram Bhusal & Bhuwan Karki haven't been performing to their best in the recent times which might also be a concern for the Tigers.

League Fixtures:
16th December- Pokhara Paltan
18th December- Butwal Blasters
19th December- Expert Dhangadi Blues
21st December- Biratnagar Titans
23rd December- Kathmandu Goldens

Previewing the team on paper, Chitwan Rhinos will probably qualify for the final.
