Australia vs India: All Eyes on Virat Kohli Mohali Template

September 20, 2022 | Rahul Shriwastav

The Player of Kohli Caliber is a big asset for any team. Virat Kohli and his form were the most trending topic in India. Many even wrote him off. His form before the Asia cup was a big concern for India and it was like Kohli has lost his touch and is towards the last dance of his career.

Right after the England Series, Kohli took a 6-week long break from cricket and guess what he didn't even touch a bat in this period. How he talked about his "mental health," how he was "disturbed" to discover he "wasn't thrilled to play or train".

India has poured their support behind Kohli after a very conservative 'experimental' phase that lacked meaningful experimentation. They backed Kohli and tried every possible way to give him more chances for him they even demotivated Hooda who had a brilliant start to his international career. After trying a few experiments they came back to Kohli.

In the very first match of the Asia cup, world cricket saw a little bit of old Kohli aggression. And in the game against Pakistan in super 4, Kohli was flawless. His flick to bring his fifty was the trademark short of peak Kohli. Rohit rested himself in a game against Afghanistan and promoted Kohli to open the inning. And Kohli grab this opportunity with both hands and ended his three-year of century droughts.

Kohli 61 ball 122 not only ended his wait for 71st ton but also made him the highest Individual scorer of India in T20I.

Big Task Ahead for India and Kohli

T20 World cup is less than a month away and before that India has a big game against Australia and South Africa. And can Kohli continue the form that he showed in the Asia cup? Virat Kohli is not the player who is known for smashing the first ball. And after the game against he stated, "I should stick to my tried and tested 'template,' where six-hitting isn't always a priority.

India is all set to take on Australia in Mohali and indeed no one can forget Kohli's masterclass against Australia when they last played in this venue. Here Kohli single-handedly won the game for India and "Kohli-fied" India to the semifinal of the 2016 WT20.

All eyes will be on Kohli again

The dust has finally settled, as well as the monkey is no longer on Virat's back. However, against Australia and then South Africa, he will be against some of the world's top fast bowlers.

Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood must really have observed how Naseem & co-bowled to Kohli in the Asia Cup. With that penetrating length, the Australian pair will throw him to the test again.

India is to play 6 T20I's before the world cup and we all hope he gets his consistency as his form is very important for the Indian team going into the world cup. The Indian Skipper has clearly stated how important Kohli's form is for them.

Now let's wait and see, how king Kohli plays against Australia and South Africa.
