India complete a 5-0 whitewash against the Kiwis

Indian cricket team completed a 5-0 whitewash against New Zealand after defeating the home side by 7 wickets the last match of the 5 match series. Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert's fifties weren't enough to chase down a target of 164 set by the Indian side.

Earlier, India won the toss and elected to bat first. Both India and New Zealand rested their skippers Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. Rohit Sharma and Tim Southee were leading their respective sides. India finished on 163/3 from their allotted 20 overs. Rohit was once again the top scorer as he smashed 60 runs from 41 balls which included 3 fours and 3 sixes. KL Rahul continued his good form with the bat as he made a 33 ball 45.

Since, Kohli was rested, Rohit came in at number 3 while KL Rahul opened the innings with the wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson. Samson couldn't prove his worth yet again as he was dismissed by Kuggeleijn for just 2 runs. Coming in at number 4, Shreyas Iyer remained unbeaten on 33 runs. Kuggeleijn was the pick of the bowlers for Kiwis with 2 wickets to his name.

New Zealand in reply didn't had best of the starts. They were once struggling at 17-3 before Ross Taylor and Tim Seifert started the recovery. Tim Seifert (50) and Ross Taylor (53) then added 99 runs for the fourth wicket as New Zealand recovered to 116. Seifert clobbered a 30-ball 50 studded with five fours and three sixes, while Ross Taylor hit two sixes and five fours in his 47-ball 53-run innings.

Man of the match Jasprit Bumrah : "Feeling very good. The match got close at one point but we had belief that if we can squeeze in one or two good overs, the match can get close. It was windy, I was trying to use the wind and the longer side of the boundary. Very happy with the learnings, different ground dimensions, first time in New Zealand; great result."
