Du Plesis quits captaincy from all formats
Faf du Plesis has stepped down as South Africa's captain from all formats of cricket. Wicket keeper batsman Quinton De Kock led the Proteas side in the recent ODI and T20I series against England.
As per the statement by Cricket South Africa, Faf wanted to concentrate on his role as a batsman and senior player and build a next generation of South African cricket under the leadership of Quinton de Kock.
Faf will continue to play as a senior player in all formats of the game.
"This was one of the toughest decisions to make, but I remain fully committed to supporting Quinton, Mark [Boucher] and my team-mates as we continue to rebuild and re-align as a group," a Cricket South Africa (CSA) release quoted du Plessis as saying.
